Sarah Menefee is a San Francisco poet and  homeless rights activist, a founding member of such groups as Homes Not Jails, ‘First they came for the homeless’ and The Revolutionary Poets Brigade. Her previous books of poetry include I’m Not Thousandfurs, The Blood About the Heart, Human Star, CEMENT, Holy Eel, and various chapbooks including Sighn and Winter Rose (Bodily Press, 2025), as well as various collections under her own imprint Fishy Afoot.

She has worked in hospitals, casinos, bars, offices, day care centers and bookstores, and as an artist’s model. Now retired, she likes to gadfly from downtown espresso cafes and watch the world go by, with occasional sweeps’ defenses of her fellows from nearby alleys in the parts of the city once beloved by John Wieners and Jack Spicer, angelic presences.
